I started blogging back in December 2008, as I wanted to share my thoughts about games and life in Japan.

Almost two decades later, and I still have plenty to say. You'll find that most of it is coherent. 

I write for my own entertainment, though I have also written freelance for online and print publications. I attend Tokyo Game Show as press every year, and am available for freelance work.

Guy Savage Who?

Guess who'd never heard of Guy Savage until last week? It is me, the Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater-liker. I had no clue who or what Guy Savage was until I saw a very confusing repost on Bluesky last Friday. "Guy Savage nightmare game confirmed for MGS Delta Snake Eater, developed by Platinum Games". I read that post multiple times in an attempt to untangle the meaning, and could not make head nor tail of it. Who or what is Guy Savage? Is the mention of Snake Eater a copy/paste error? Platinum Games, what? My head hurt, so I decided to treat the message as nonsense. None of my business. I resumed scrolling. But he kept appearing on my feed. Guy Savage this, Guy Savage that. I eventually found a link to a  news story  and all was revealed. I was confused, a tad embarrassed, but mostly fascinated by this bonus mini game that had somehow eluded me for twenty years. The Best & Worst Video Games of 2012

With only one day left of 2012, I think it’s now safe to post my Best & Worst of the year. This is my third such entry here at Toomanywires ( 2010 – 2011 ). Though not without highlights, 2012 was far from a vintage year for video games. Major series faltered, hotly anticipated games were delayed and it felt like we couldn’t go a week without a major developer or publisher embarrassing themselves. E3 was a disaster and we finish the year with video games making headlines for all the wrong reasons. While 2012 may have been a down year, it was not a disaster. Wii U and Vita gave us two new ways to enjoy Call of Duty, PSN bounced back with a strong showing, a number of smaller, unheralded games became critical hits and it was a much improved showing for new properties. The Best & Worst Games of 2025

The Best & Worst of:  2024 /  2023   /  2022   /  2021  /  2020  /  2019  /   2018  /  2017  /  2016  /  2015  /  2014  /  2013  /  2012  /  2011  /  2010 Are we sure it's been a year? It feels like I was writing my 2024 wrap-up just a few months ago. Gushing about Infinite Wealth, six months ago tops. Maybe eight? I may have lost the ability to accurately gauge the passage of time, but I know we certainly got twelve-month's worth of games this year. Good games, too. We even got a new console.
